Gemalink divestment deal currently in negotiation: According to management, a large shipping line is currently negotiating to purchase up to a 25% stake in Gemalink. GMD currently holds 75% of Gemalink, of which 50% is directly and the remainder of 25% is held through its Gemadept Vung Tau subsidiary. Its investment in Gemalink was valued at VND 1.3 tn at 3Q20. If the sale is successful, the divestment will: (i) secure volume for Gemalink, potentially allowing the port’s Phase I to reach full capacity post-deal; and (ii) allow GMD a large one-off gain on sale. In our view, this transaction is a significant positive catalyst for the shares of GMD, and we will closely watch its progress.
